Broadleaf Evergreens

These are deciduous plants that (in most winters) will keep their foliage throughout the winter, instead of shedding it in the fall. In very cold or dry winters, they will lose most of their leaves, but the plants themselves are very hardy. What's critical to these plants: lots of water, especially as they go into winter, and protection from drying winter winds.
